PPM Levels
In reality the PPM level will not instantly go down, there are 7 Trillion tonnes of Carbon in the atmosphere setting the PPM level at at it current mark of 417. This plan will decrease the amount of carbon by approximately 25 billion tonnes a year, so we require 40 years to remove 1/7th of the total - 1 trillion tonnes.
Patience Please
A quick fix solution was never on the cards, but we will eventually get the right result. As we move into carbon net-zero across the planet, the actual amount of carbon removed by our CCS will increase, so together with natural methods, the next 1 trillion tonnes of carbon should take a lot less time to remove (about half).
The Right Result
The picture above is where we are, the picture to the side is where we aim to be. Once we start to remove the carbon then we can put right all the wrongs we have done, such as the melting polar ice caps, rising sea levels, droughts etc..Then we can turn efforts to biodiversity, saving the species and generally tidying up.
